It's that time again...it's that time again...talk to me now! It's that time again...it's Talkative Tuesdayyyy...now lets talk! Hello my gorgeous black and brown Goddesses! How are y'all today? I'm running late but you know the saying, " better late than never." Let's get right into it. So between work, trying to study for my exam and being a mom your girl be all over the place but in a positive way. Eventually this blog and website will be getting my full attention but at the moment God doesn't have it setup exactly that way. I will say this though, I trust his process and timing. No matter what you are doing always trust what God has for you is for you in his timing not your own. Once you get comfortable in that it takes a lot of pressure off you beating yourself up. Now I'm not saying sit on your butt and do nothing because faith without works is dead (James 2:14-24). You have to meet God in the middle. He wants to see if you really believe in him and what he can do for you. He also wants to see if you truly believe in the gift that he has given you and his purpose for your life. Always remember our lives are not our own. Shifting gears I want to take out the time to acknowledge that this month is Mental Health Awareness Month. With mental health becoming one of the many leading causes of death in the African American Community I want to take time to say it is okay to not be okay. So many times we are told that we are not allowed to be weak and we bottle up our emotions and we don't know how to deal with them. From our adolescent years through our adult years we carry a heavy load. As this builds over time we eventually explode and make decisions that affect us and/or our families for a life time. With that being said please take the time you need. Leave the job, leave the man, leave the draining friendship. Accept and acknowledge your emotions so that you can better deal with them. Everyday won't be peaches and daisies but if 5 of the 7 days out of the week are bliss then that is a start. If you need any further assistance you can go to www.NAMI.org (National Alliance on Mental Illness) for information in your area on getting you started on recovery to a better you. Moving along you know I like to give a little laugh and let's just say I got a good one this past weekend when I saw a mother crack a beer bottle over her sons head. Y'all this was a real life Madea situation. Not only did this mother look at security and tell them to come on over and get her son as a pre warning to what was about to go down but when I tell you it look like a WWE fighter towering over its opponent. Whew chile you had to see it to believe it. Well I'm going to end this brief Talkative Tuesday with a Motivational Music spotlight of the week recipient by the name of Kevin Gates. His latest song "Fairytale" gives me all the feels. Please take a listen you might find yourself being able to relate and it might be that little motivation you need to press on. Don't forget to respond, give feedback, or simply show up next week for Talkative Tuesday. As always remember to #BEEE (Beautiful, Encouraged, Enlightened, & Empowered).
* Let's take a moment of silence to honor the late Bebe Moore Campbell the Co-founder of NAMI Urban LA. Even though July has been dedicated to her and her hard work for the awareness of mental health in the minority community I want to celebrate this Goddess now.
