Today we lost a lyrical genius and hearts are broken everywhere. Let's take a moment of silence for DMX. I've never met Earl Simmons known to the world as DMX of the Ruff Ryders a day in my life. That should give you an idea of the impact this man had on my life as well as others. Growing up I felt like the black sheep of my family and his music fed my soul. His voice alone, deep, raspy, passionate and hard to the core was everything to me. More importantly, the compassion in his voice when he did interviews portrayed his raw truth and that he was gentle and loving at heart. It was the mannerisms for me! A victim of his environment as he stated, his life was "a blessing and a curse". We as people seem to judge a book by it's cover without knowing the facts or giving a human being the benefit of doubt. DMX had an addiction to crack. DMX let the world know he was tricked into drugs as a child which led to an addiction he couldn't control. His pure innocence just stolen from him without knowledge until after the fact. My loves here is where the major respect for this lovely soul comes in. Although he was dealt a horrible hand he kept going and he never gave up. He was always upfront and honest about the demons he was fighting and it's hurtful to see him lose his fight today. But the beauty in it all is that he no longer has to fight. He can finally be at peace from his addiction and I know God has welcomed him home with open arms because through it all he made sure to give God praise and let the world know where he stood with The Most High. He was not ashamed of God and God is not ashamed of him and has welcomed his son home. If you don't know his story I asked that you take time out to learn who he was/is and what he stood for. Listen to his music and be empowered by his fight to never give up and keep going. So many of us take this thing called life for granted. We complain about the smallest things. Always remember there is someone out here somewhere going through more than you can imagine. Simply dealing with the hand life dealt them not the one they wanted but no matter what they are humble fighters. Again, let his life empower you to fight everything thrown your way meant to destroy you because when it's all said and done what the world thinks doesn't truly matter but hearing God say well done my good and faithful servant is really what we are all here for. This road that we take everyday is just a stop to where our soul is really trying to go. Everyone has a Blessed and Beautiful weekend. Stay safe! Live, Laugh, Love, and make memories. Always remember to #BEEE (Beautiful, Encouraged, Enlightened, & Empowered). #Xforever #DMX #RuffRyders #Earlsimmons
